electronica ‘beats the gloom’ 17/11/2008

electronica, environment Despite the current economic gloom, electronica attracted some 72,000 visitors, 58% of whom came from outside of Germany. However, the number of visitors from the UK and the US was down – attributed by organiser Messe Munchen to tighter travel restrictions.
Klaus Dittrich, managing director of Messe München, noted: “We are proud that electronica showed its stability in the face of the economic crisis. This result is a very clear indication of the importance of the trade fair as a worldwide meeting point for the industry.”
This year, electronica had a ‘green’ theme, with a focus on energy efficiency and power saving. As part of this focus, the ceo roundtable discussed how the semiconductor industry could contribute to climate protection.
