The electronics industry is, by its very nature, focused on the A list components – the quad core processor or the top of the range programmable logic device are two such examples.
But these stand out parts will be of little use without a timing device to provide their heartbeat. Despite their critical nature, frequency control devices tend to have a low profile. Yet their unassuming nature hides some serious technology.
